Hall of Fame Broadcaster, Milo Hamilton, to Speak at Browns Luncheon
Hall of Fame broadcaster, Milo Hamilton, has been named one of the key speakers for the St. Louis Browns 2012 luncheon. The event will take place on June 14, 2012 at the Holiday Inn Southwest in Sunset Hills.
Hamilton is best known for calling play-by-play for seven different Major League Baseball teams since 1953.
Milo launched his long and distinguished broadcasting career as the television play-by-play announcer of the St. Louis Browns for the 1953 season, broadcasting the games on KSD-TV (now KSDK-TV). KSD-TV was the eighth television station in the United States and the second west of the Mississippi (after Los Angeles' KTLA, by two-and-a-half weeks). Like most St. Louis Browns employees, and many players, he did not move with the team to Baltimore in 1954. He was succeeded in the TV booth in Baltimore by another broadcaster to receive the Ford C. Frick Award, Ernie Harwell.
Last year's lunch drew more than 285 fans. This year a larger attendance is expected. Former Browns players will also be in attendance along with additional speakers. A silent auction is being planned along with exhibits covering the history of the St. Louis Browns.

The St. Louis Browns Fan Club was organized in 1984 with a mission to preserve the history and memory of the St. Louis Browns baseball team. Today, the Club has more than 320 supporters.
The Browns played in St. Louis from 1902 through the 1953 season. The team plays today as the Baltimore Orioles. While the Browns had a losing record while in St. Louis, they were one of the most colorful teams in the history of baseball. The Browns won only one pennant and played the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series in 1944.
